The Process Of Oriental Rug Cleaning

By William Williams

Oriental mats are usually exotic and very sophisticated. They bring character to the room they are placed in. Their crafting is meticulously, and they are made in Turkey, India, Middle East, Iran and Southeast Asia. You need to understand the process of Oriental rug cleaning to avoid destroying them.

Stains should not be allowed to sit on the rugs for long before they are eliminated. You need to take action to do away with them the moment the spillage occurs. Note that delaying in taking such measures may necessitate you to call professionals to help you out. At times, the damage cannot be reversed.

You are not supposed to go for more than a month without cleaning the products. Do not just assume that it is not dirty because it still looks great. You need to turn it regularly to ensure that one side does not get overly heated by the sun.

When vacuuming, you should not just focus on the area that is stepped on. The cleaning should be done on both sides. Loose grime, dust, and dirt should be eliminated first. A mixture of white vinegar and water is very powerful when it comes to cleaning oriental rugs. You should not use harsh chemicals or soap in the cleaning process. Many of the rugs are made using natural dyes and the chances of them discoloring or running if soap or chemicals are used in scrubbing them are high.

You should not pour the mixture on the mat directly. You have to spray it evenly all through the surfaces. Afterward, it should be aired to dry. The fringes need to be handled in a similar manner. However, you should brush them lightly to free any kinks. You need to work on all the aspects of the rugs.

If the fringes are white, you should not use a high amount of vinegar. Turn on the fan and place it near the mat if it is movable for drying to take place within a short while. Cotton fringes are susceptible to browning because of the fiber if they are originally white. Therefore, you should be careful when cleaning rugs which are white in color.

A floor fan should be utilized in promoting drying on the underside of the mat. If it is spread before this area is completely dry, the moisture will promote the growth of mold. It is very ugly, and it requires professionals to eliminate the fungi. If the spores spread to other rooms, it will be disastrous. The entire house and even the occupants will be in danger when this occurs. However, there is a very simple measure which can be taken to ensure that it does not come to this.

You should not hang the mat on a cloth line when it is still soaked with water. You need to wait until the excess water has been eliminated to do so. When you do not adhere to this, the colors will run, and you will have destroyed the rug for good. You need to let cleaners know about this if you will be delegating the duty to other people.
